Our group encountered another coming in the opposite direction, creating a minor traffic jam at 05.30. Having bivouaced on My Snowdon, they hadn’t slept in either.
Whilst descending the Llanberis track we encountered this completely mad cyclist oushing his bike to the top of Mt Snowdon. We, of course, were completely sane…
Seriously, knackered after thr 2,100 foot ascent.
Tryfan looms in the distance. After descending all that way we must climb it, and then descend further still.
Adam and Eve are two boulders that stand tall on the top of Tryfan. Andrew T jumped between them. He has no fear.
Finally we made llyn Ogwen, and met the support vehicles again, where we restocked with food and water, and grabbed our torches for the ongoing night. We left at 6 pm.
For thoes with the time, it was also an opportunity to attend to one’s feet.
The 2,300 foot ascent to Pen yr ole Wen was brutal for tired hikers, but once up on the Carneddau, the going was mostly flat.
Instead of proceding directly to this peak, we decided to scale Carnedd Llewelyn first, knowing we’d have to scale it again afterwards. In this way we managed to squeeze 16 3,000 feet peaks into our 15 peak challenge.
We ran for the last 5 minutes to finish the course 50 seconds quicker than the 17hr 3omins achieved by one of our guides previously. We made the finial summit just short of 11pm Stupid…but worth it
Only a 1.5 hour hike left to the cars!
Carbohydrate re-loading. Vegan breakfasts all round in Betwys-y-coed.
